Modern Loft Scene

I've got to say this might just be my most favourite mini scene that I've ever done! I was inspired to create for the MinisModernas contest and created this contemporary loft overlooking downtown Vancouver, Canada.  I was inspired by this real life loft space I saw on google which had these large windows and L-shaped sofa and went on from there.
This scene had a lot of miniature making firsts for me.  I have never made so many pieces from scratch and I'm very proud to see them all come together.  The sofa, lamp, tables, books, rug, blanket, and art pieces were all made by me.  (And I took pictures so that I can post tutorials on the sofa and lamp in the coming weeks).  It was a big challenge and I couldn't be happier with the result.

I love the way the legs turned out on the lamp!  I saw this kind of design on Pinterest and loved the simplicity with the little angled pieces on the middle of each leg.

The artwork in the picture below (the girl jumping on the bed with books) is a 1:12 copy of one of my life size original pieces which you can see on my artist portfolio website .  I've done several series using miniatures and dollhouses, this one is part of the Future Nostalgia collection from 2011.

I made the windows using a new technique too.  I framed with balsa and then I added a printed transparency with a grid behind.   I hope to take more photos when I return next week and hopefully make something to add to my photography series.

I can't believe this scene is finished, it was a mad dash with less then two weeks from start to finish!  Whew!
Thank you so much for stopping by!  If you haven't already check out my previous giveaway post and enter a comment for your chance to win.
I have been overwhelmed with all your comments and have found some new great blogs to follow too.

Giveaway

Here it is!  Back in March I hinted about doing a giveaway to celebrate my first year of blogging here on Paper Doll Minis and to thank all my followers for your support and encouragement.
I ran into a few hurdles while making the pieces (thus the delay) but it's finally happening!  Since my first year of blogging with you has consisted of mainly kitchen posts I wanted to carry over that theme.

Included in this giveaway: a kitchen-aid miniature mixer in the 'Persimmon' colour, two hamburger platters with fries, two chicken green bean and potato dinners, as well as a tray of cookies.  All the food items were made by me specifically for you. :)

To enter the giveaway simply leave a comment on this post and I will be randomly picking a winner on July 5th.

This is my first giveaway and I am super excited to share these pieces with you!  I know I am only able to send one person a prize but I want to thank all of you so much for all your comments and encouragement this past year, it means so much to be able to share my love for all things mini with you all and know you feel the same :)
