Belmont Dollhouse Announcement!

I'm thrilled to announce the Belmont house placed 3rd in the 2017 HBS Creatin Contest!  I'm so honoured! I want to thank every one again for all your encouragement and kind words the last couple of weeks.  You all have been the best!!  And a big thank you to HBS miniatures! I was just amazed at all the entries and honestly don't know how the judges decided.  Personally I thought some of the honourable mentions could have won the grand prize!  I've been so eager to see who won the other top spots, and they did not disappoint!

Shelia has been great at posting about all the winners as they've been announced, be sure to check that out.  They are also featured on the miniatures.com website.  There are just too many fantastic and creative builds!  So many times I thought "ohhh that is such a good idea! why didn't I think modifying the kit like that?"  Which is probably the best part of this contest, seeing what everyone did in the end.  I'm so happy to see my fellow bloggers get recognition too, honestly you guys blew me away with your finished pieces.

As of now I'm not planning on doing the 2018 kit... it's so very tempting because the fun is to do it along side everyone...   I really do have my heart set on a larger build though.  Here's a sneak peak of what I've been playing with.  I think I've figured out most of the floor plan and can start planning the exterior elevations.  2-3 stories high.  If there is one thing I learned from doing the Belmont house, it's plan, plan, and PLAN ahead!

    1. Thanks Shelia, yah I was thinking of buying this years kit originally but I'll probably save it and spend it on lots of supplies for this house. Hardware adds up! Plus miniatures.com has a great selection :)

  9. Congratulations!!! First time entrant too! Your work is original, and very neat. You are right about doing it together with everyone. Blogging about it really makes it feel like you are participating in a community. Looking forward very much to seeing what you make this year.

    1. Thank you Megan! Yes I wished more entrants blogged about their entries! I have really debated doing the newest kit because of the community. Sometimes building a kit that everyone can do is more accessible to readers than a from scratch build. We'll see how it goes!

  13. Congratulations Kristine! Not to take anything away from the other winners but yours was a first place winner for me, but I'm glad you received well earned recognition in some format at least. As a first time entrant you should be very proud of this achievement. I think some people are very secretive about their entries so that's why they don't blog.. I guess if they have what they think is an original idea, they don't want another entrant filching it. In your case, most of us wouldn't be able to replicate your brilliance so you are safe to blog away. :D
